Butterscotch beer is a perfect treat for wizards and muggles alike. Sweet butterscotch sauce is combined with icy cold lemon-lime soda, creating a magically foamy and delicious quaff.
A wizarding world favorite, this “beer” recipe allows you to enjoy a cup full of butterscotchy goodness whenever you’d like, even if you aren’t at a wizarding bar.–Alana Al-Hatlani
CAN I MAKE BUTTERSCOTCH SAUCE AHEAD OF TIME?
You know, we were just going to suggest that. This is a pretty great recipe for young chefs to whip up for themselves…except for the hot butterscotch part. You can go ahead and make the sauce ahead of time (it’ll need to cool down anyway) and stash it in the fridge. Whenever your little wizards are craving a magical beverage after a hard day of getting up to no good, they can whip up a sweet treat. Stored in the fridge, in a closed jar, the sauce will last about 2 weeks.
Made with simple ingredients and not too much mess, these sweet and creamy lemon-lime drinks are sure to be a hit with everyone, kids and adults alike. No one can resist the combination of flavors and the foamy texture.
In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter.
When the butter is melted, add brown sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Whisk to combine.
Cook mixture, stirring frequently, until the brown sugar is completely dissolved, 5 to 7 minutes.
Whisk in the heavy whipping cream and continue to cook for 1 minute more.
Allow mixture to cool to room temperature, 15 to 30 minutes.
Fill 8 large glasses halfway with ice. When cool, divvy mixture between the glasses.
Slowly top with soda, be careful not to overfill, as the mixture will bubble and foam! Stir to blend and enjoy.
