I was seeing a lot of blogs that I follow coming out with kind of a synopsis of the year of blogging. Some were talking about their most popular blogs and others were talking about recipe fails. I don’t really pay too much attention to the recipe fails and I certainly don’t write about them. I think most of my fails are cooking something too long aka burning whatever meat I am grilling or probably a broken egg yolk or something to do with an egg.
I started looking at the stats on my blog, and I will admit I never look at them. I write this weekly food blog out of the love of writing and sharing something yummy we had with you plus this is a great way to keep track of my recipes. I will brag a little that the numbers I saw were pretty awesome and surprised me. In 2020 I had over 7,600 views and then in 2021 there were over 13,300 views I love that my words and recipes are seen all over the world. Thanks to all who viewed and those that liked or commented I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.
My wish for you all you out there is a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year! I think we all need a lift up!
This recipe was a combination of having apples to use up and watching the Food Network yesterday morning and seeing a Dutch Baby being made. My daughter got to work and made us breakfast!
Apple Dutch Baby
cast iron pan
- 4 tablespoon butter
- 2-3 apples such as granny smith, gala, honeycrisp peeled and sliced thin
- ¾ cup flour
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 eggs
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
preheat oven to 400°F
place butter into a 12″ cast iron pan and place it into the oven to melt the butter and heat up the pan.
in a bowl or blender, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, milk and eggs.
place the sliced apples into the bottom of the pan. Pour egg mixture over the melted butter and apples.
Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle over the top of the egg mixture.
bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown
